How to price your truck to sell
Updated October 2026
The right price sells a truck faster than any ad. Here's how to set it.
Research comparable trucks
Look for trucks with a similar year, make, model, engine, miles and condition, in your region. Asking prices are higher than selling prices, so treat them as a ceiling.
Adjust for what matters
Recent major work (an engine overhaul, new aftertreatment parts, new tires) adds value; document it. Known problems lower value; disclose them. Clean paperwork and maintenance records make buyers comfortable paying more.
Leave a little room
Most buyers expect to negotiate. Price a bit above your bottom line, and decide your walk-away number before the calls start.
